What you should know about Dive North, Bay of Islands
With two boats we offer the best diving experiences and are known for personal service giving you the individual attention you deserve. We are an established dive charter and training centre in the Bay of Islands, locally owned and operated by Dave and Sue and the rest of the team. Dave is the POM who should have been a kiwi from birth! Having always been asked if he was from a land down under he is completely at home in the Bay of Islands. Sue is the Kiwi who sounds like a POM having lived in England for more years than she cares to remember but being born in New Zealand she appreciates everything that is special about our wonderful country.
Like all Kiwis she loves the outdoors and shares Dave’s love of the Bay of Islands. Sue hasn’t developed her mermaid fins yet but she has mastered the Lemon Cake which she regularly offers to divers on board Lady Rose and The Inn Keeper. Sue’s experience in marketing and istration ensure the smooth running of the dive trips and PADI SSI courses. Dan is originally from Newcastle, England and gave up the office life to pursue a career in diving.
He has now been diving all around the world for the past six years and is now a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, clocking over 100 dives. Prior to moving to New Zealand he was working for a dive company in Western Australia, as well as working as a Whaleshark Spotter and Humpback Whale tour guide. Dan also has a passion for spearfishing and is working on improving his free diving skills. He has been a solid part of the Dive North team since September 2013 and has now set up home in the Bay of Islands to further his diving career.
Katie grew up in England, and after completing university three years ago ventured over to this side of the world to get a bit more sun! Completing her Divemaster internship on the Great Barrier Reef and working in Thailand as an instructor, Katie has now moved over to become a resident Kiwi and has chosen the beautiful Bay of Islands to be home. After having dived with us here at Dive North during her travels she is very excited to be back as part of the team and to experience all the outdoor treasures this area has to offer. Our 7. 5 metre Maitland Power Cat, Lady Rose, is a fully equipped dive boat offering space and stability and surveyed for 8 divers. New for the season is The Inn Keeper, our purpose built Challenge Seacraft dive boat, surveyed for 18. The Inn Keeper offers luxury not seen in the Bay of Islands in a dive operation full galley, saloon area, large cockpit and even sleeps 8! The Inn Keeper offers overnight trips and is perfect for our unique Divers Big Day Out!.
All our charter equipment is mostly less than a year old, of the highest quality, fully maintained and serviced for your safety and includes dive computers for added peace of mind. The large shop stocks great brands of diving equipment and accessories, fully equipped regulator and tank testing room for Visual and Hydro tests, plus a dedicated training room for PADI SSI training courses for up to 12 students, hire gear area, dive fills and a convenient toilet and changing room!. We are an Approved Dive cylinder Testing Station Hydro test Visual test Express service available 12 hour turnaround 15
